Dental Implants

WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

Dental Implants have revolutionised dentistry. If you have lost a tooth or multiple teeth, dental implants can be the answer for you.

Traditionally when a tooth is lost, the gap is replaced by a denture or a bridge. A denture is removable and may be ill-fitting and uncomfortable. In comparison a bridge is permanently fixed, however a bridge requires removing healthy tooth structure from the adjacent teeth. This has potential to compromise their long term viability.

Dental implants can be an effective long-term solution to replace one or multiple teeth. Studies show that implants provide greater structural support and have a longer life span than bridges or dentures. Implants are typically constructed of titanium, which is a strong and safe material that effectively integrates with bone.

Implants are placed into the jawbone to replace the roots of the original natural teeth. New artificial teeth are then attached, enabling normal function with a natural appearance. The success rate of this process is 90-95% over a 15 year period.

We make sure that you receive the best care and are happy with your results. We have a dedicated and experienced team who endeavour to support you throughout the treatment and long-term maintenance. All implants are placed by our highly experienced UK qualified implantologist Dr Behzad Manzoor.

REPLACING SINGLE AND MULTIPLE TEETH

Single missing teeth

Replacing a single missing tooth with a dental implant is an ideal solution at Smileology. The implant acts as a natural tooth in function and appearance. Using a dental implant avoids the involvement of any other teeth.

Multiple missing teeth

When more than one tooth is missing, multiple implants can be used to replace these teeth. Due to the possibility for implants can be linked or splinted together using bridges, it is not always necessary to replace every missing tooth with an individual implant.
